The health group, led by Patricia Wu from Crowell & Moring International, organized a meeting in mid-December to determine how the private sector can contribute to developing the Pan-American Highway for Digital Health. The initiative, led by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), aims to create a connected health system in the continent.
The goal is to enable healthcare providers to access a patient’s medical history from their home country for treatment when they travel or live in another country in the region.
This initiative also aims to enhance treatment delivery’s quality, safety, and efficiency. Moreover, it seeks to improve the response to epidemics and public health emergencies through data exchange and verifiable digital vaccine certificates.
Recognizing the significant challenges of the Pan-American Highway for Digital Health Initiative, the health group is already working to support and contribute to its development from the private sector’s perspective.
